NEWS ALERTS

A limited supply of Pandemic H1N1 flu vaccine in nasal spray form is available now. The nasal spray is only licensed for healthy, non-pregnant people over age 2. For now, the vaccine is only available to groups who are at highest risk of severe disease; therefore, for this shipment, those first in line are:

Children ages 2 to 9 years old
People who live with or care directly for infants under 6 months old
Health care workers who have frequent, close contact with small children (pediatrics, emergency rooms, health clinics and family practice offices with lots of pediatric care)
The vaccine is being distributed to health care providers whose patients include these groups of people. None of the vaccine from this first shipment will be available at Shasta County Public Health. Contact your health care provider or check back often for updated information about when you will be eligible to receive the vaccine.

Also, due to manufacturing delays in vaccine shipment, seasonal flu vaccination clinics have been postponed until further notice. In the meantime, you can contact your healthcare provider or visit another vaccination clinic offered in the area. Visit our shastaflushots page for updated information
