It's been called the most devastating epidemic recorded in world history. The Spanish Flu spread around the globe in 1918, killing anywhere from 50 to 80 million people in less than a year. Now, a Bakersfield fireman turned historian, has discovered it hit Kern County hard and says there's a chance it could strike again.
Garth Milam is studying the Spanish Flu for a Masters thesis he's pursuing in history. He has spent years researching the epidemic and found out of the ten largest cities in California, per capita, Bakersfield suffered the most casualties, and Milam continues to find more victims...
