Abstract

Objetivo: Medir el grado de estrés en médicos residentes en un hospital de tercer nivel de la Ciudad de México durante la contingencia sanitaria causada por el virus de influenza AH1N1. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo transversal con una muestra no probabilística de 99 médicos residentes de diferentes especialidades relacionadas con la medicina respiratoria. Se aplicó el cuestionario Maslach Burnout Inventory, el cual evalúa tres dimensiones: cansancio emocional, despersonalización y realización personal. El cuestionario fue autoadministrado y anónimo. El estudio se realizó en el primer brote de influenza (del 23 de abril al 10 de mayo de 2009). En este periodo se realizó una reorganización hospitalaria, de tal forma que se suspendieron los periodos vacacionales de todos los médicos residentes y se reajustaron los periodos de guardias. Resultados: La mayor proporción de médicos residentes con síndrome de burnout son los de segundo año de la especialidad de neumología. Asimismo, se identificó que los médicos residentes menores de 30 años tienen mayor probabilidad de presentar síndrome de burnout. No se encontraron diferencias significativas de acuerdo al lugar de origen.

Abstract

Target: To measure the grade of stress in residents in a hospital of third level of the Mexico City during the sanitary risk caused by the virus of influenza AH1N1. Methods: Descriptive transverse study with a sample not probabilística of 99 residents of different specialities related to the respiratory medicine. There was applied the questionnaire Maslach Burnout Inventory, which evaluates three dimensions: emotional weariness, despersonalización and personal achievement. The questionnaire was autoadministered and anonymous. The study was realized in the first sprout of influenza (from April 23 until May 10, 2009). In this period a hospitable reorganization was realized, in such a way that there were suspended the holiday periods of all the residents and the periods of guards readjusted. Results: The residents' biggest proportion with syndrome of burnout they are those of the second year of the speciality of neumología. Also, it was identified that the residents younger than 30 years have major probability of presenting syndrome of burnout. Significant differences were not in accordance with the place of origin.
