At least six bulls in Vietnam's central highlands Kon Tum province suddenly died of an unidentified disease, which damaged their livers, local newspaper Labor reported Friday.
Most of the cattle in Doan Ket commune, Kon Tum town died after showing no abnormal symptoms, the paper quoted Nguyen Van Vu, chairman of the communal People's Committee, as saying.
The bulls have not died of foot-and-mouth disease, he said, noting that local veterinary agencies are probing into their death.
Now, 129 communes in 14 cities and provinces nationwide are still hit by foot-and-mouth disease. The disease has affected nearly 5,400 bulls and buffaloes, and about 200 pigs in the 14 localities, according to the Department of Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
