Last month's floods are taking a serious toll on the health of a West Valley woman. Chris Decot, 50, is in the intensive care unit at Buffalo's Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital. She somehow contracted a MRSA infection in the days after her home was flooded in early August. The MRSA infection was followed a series of other medical problems including a stroke and she had to have a leg amputated because the infection had spread throughout her body.
"She was doing good until a few days ago she took a down turn and now she's kind of comatose and she's got the respirator back in and all they tell me is that she's stable or resting well," says Dennis Decot, Chris' husband.
The flood also washed out the bridge to the Decot's home and even if Chris gets better she won't be allowed to go home until the bridge is replaced and that will cost thousands of dollars.
