A girl, aged 12, died on Monday due to influenza A H1N1 and became the first fatality from the virus this year. Given this fact, health authorities recommend reinforcing preventive measures mainly with children who are most affected by the disease.
According to the report of the Departmental Service of Health (Headquarters), the child was admitted to a health center and then was transferred to the Japanese hospital where he died. The authorities have instructed a medical audit to determine whether it complied with all care procedures.
Health Secretary of the Interior of Santa Cruz, Oscar Urenda, yesterday warned that the H1N1 influenza is no longer stationary and the force that is attacking the population, mainly children. So far, total 181 positive cases of evil and 557 samples are being processed at the Center for Tropical Diseases (CENETROP).
The health authority insisted that a good percentage of cases are children of school age.
So have had to take control measures, including the closure of establishments where there have been more than three positive cases.
