Alert that circulates DENV-2 of dengue and is more aggressive

Dengue DENV-2 circulates in Cochabamba, which is a more aggressive serotype (suer of a variety of microorganisms) in comparison with the type of dengue that had existed in Bolivia for a few years.
In this way, there is concern among the health authorities, taking into account that this phenomenon has been observed in the period since 2022 and it has been taking place in the life of two persons (a minor and an adult).
There are four dengue serotypes: DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4. This year, the Servicio Departamental de Salud (SEDES) has detected 303 cases in the valley, of which 221 coincide with serotype 2.
If the number is the lowest in relation to 2020, when there are more than 3,000 infected with the bite of the carrier mosquito, SEDES states that it carries out containment efforts, according to the information given by the head of Epidemiology, Rubén Castle.
Another element that causes alert in SEDES is that dengue has given examples of proliferating itself in times of cold. For that reason, Castillo recommends not giving way to the accumulation of rainwater in tarros, buckets and other objects where mosquito larvae can become mass. The southern and northern areas of the city are places, following the SEDES, where there is carelessness in this regard. The poor population leaves the rims in disuse. These are ideal spaces for the subsequent infection.
