This video illustrates how even a health minister can be mistaken. The WHO recently stated that bf had passed from person to person in Indonesia. They based this conclusion on statistical information. The minister incorrectly assumed that if the disease had indeed been passed between humans then she would be seeing thousands of cases not the handful they have. Somehow the word limited either was missed entirely or not well understood. Which should remind all of us of translation problems. Furthermore, rationale for the incorrect statement of h2h transmission was due to unspecified people wanting to damage the tourist industry in Bali. As tourism is critical to the economic well-being of this island nation, it is easy to see how after the bombing debacle last year people might reach this erroneous conclusion. All of us need to be mindful of the economic and cultural differences we run across every day. Mistakes are common and while we sometimes get frustrated because of the misunderstandings, they are due not to negligence but to how information is filtered between people.
