The State Level Committee on Bird Flu decided to intensify vigil of the Rapid Response Force in every district at a meeting here, which was chaired by the Principal Secretary for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Vanhela Pachuau.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Commissioners of all the eight districts, representatives of health, forest, animal husbandry and veterinary departments, decided to keep tab on the 72 km-long international border to prevent entry of poultry items, after avian influenza reports came from the two neighbouring countries.
Meanwhile a consignment of 40 pigs, reported to have been brought from Myanmar, was seized and the consignment produced before a magistrate in Champhai district, located on Myanmar border, last week, delayed reports reaching here said.
