Dengue continued to spread its tentacles. The disease claimed six lives and afflicted 87 people, including an RJD leader, across the country on Sunday amid reports that railway hospitals in Bihar were put on high alert.
Five people, including two children and an infant, died in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region and one person succumbed to the disease in Anantpur district of Andhra Pra-desh.

A man affected by the viral fever in Anantapur district died at a private hospital, director of health P Venkateswara Rao confirmed.

Of the five reported cases, two were registered in Hyderabad, while two were recorded in West Godavari district and one in Srikakulam district, Rao said.

Himachal Pradesh reported its first dengue case in Kangra district, while at least 30 patients were under treatment in Kolkata, five in Vidarbha and an equal number of suspected cases in Madhya Pradesh.

Bihar MP admitted to AIIMS for dengue

NEW DELHI: Bihar JD(U) President Rajiv Ranjan alias Lallan Singh was tonight admitted to AIIMS with suspected Dengue.

Singh, a Member of Parliament from Begusarai, was flown in from Patna by a Jet Airways flight around 11.30 pm.

He was taken straight to AIIMS where he was admitted to a private ward.

Family sources said Singh had been running high temperature following which he was rushed to Delhi.
