Visitors to the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games are being assured of public health safety. China?s Minister of Health, Chen Zhu, said Monday China is strengthening monitoring, emergency response and medical treatment during the Games this year.
Peoples Daily quotes Chen as saying, ?the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games provides a great opportunity for the country?s public health development. Beijing will join hands with co-host cities and its neighbouring provinces to strengthen disease-related information monitoring and make risk evaluations in the possible health accidents?.
He said rehearsals would be held and exercises in public health accidents would be improved to prevent, reduce and eliminate risks in the public health sphere during the Games, to the maximum.
According to Liu Zejun, director of the Beijing Municipal Disease Prevention and Control Center, special attention would be given in several categories, including the spread of epidemic disease, food-infected disease, drinking water, environmental safety and heat stroke. Chen said, ?great efforts will be made in preventing rabies, bird flu, SARS and group poisonings?. :tiphat: http://www.gamesbids.com/cgi-bin/news/viewnews.cgi?category=1&id=1199724981
