PAMPLONA, Jan. 25 (EUROPA PRESS) -
The incidence of the flu epidemic has fallen sharply across Navarre during the week between 16 and 22 January. Thus, in the third week of 2011 there were 290 cases per 100,000 population.
The peak of the flu epidemic this season came in Navarra between 9 and 15 January with an average of 440 cases per 100,000 population, as reported by the Government of Navarra in a note.
This decline has occurred in all age groups except among children under 15 years, a segment in which the trend is growing, with 610 cases per 100,000 population. The least affected are over 65 years, with a rate of 70 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (the epidemic threshold of 65 cases).
In regard to the health care activities have decreased disease-related emergency and visits for pneumonia, both in primary care in emergency departments. In this third week of the year there were 16 hospital admissions with confirmed influenza A H1N1.
So far this season, 57 percent of the revenue had chronic diseases, another 8 percent were pregnant women, 3 percent had severe obesity, 4 percent were asthmatic, another 6 percent were elderly advanced and the remaining 22 percent had no known risk factors. 79 percent of those admitted had not received the flu vaccine.
