Beckley federal prison cleared out because of mysterious illness
BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) - Forty-one inmates and staff members at the Federal Correctional Institution in Beckley were taken to the hospital Thursday after a worker in the mailroom became ill.

All were taken to Raleigh General to be evaluated as a precaution. No one was treated or admitted.

A hazardous material team checked the facility thoroughly and gave it the all clear.

The incident occurred around noon Thursday.

Captain Billie Trump of the Beckley Fire Department says something as simple as perfume may have made the mailroom worker ill.
