Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda says the outbreak of the new coronavirus is making the outlook for the world economy increasingly uncertain.
He spoke to reporters ahead of Saturday's meeting of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors in Saudi Arabia.
Kuroda said it is unknown what will happen with China's economic activity, or when the coronavirus outbreak will end. He added that it is hard to foresee how the outbreak will affect Japan's economy and that of the world at this point.
He noted, while the bank's view that Japan's economy will continue to recover moderately has not changed, it is watching closely the impact the outbreak will have on the economy.
