162 dengue patients undergoing treatment in country

Around 162 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals and clinics across the country.

Among them, 109 patients are taking treatment in Dhaka division and 53 are hospitalised outside the capital, a release of Health Crisis Management and Control Room of Directorate General of Health Services said in Dhaka on Saturday.

A total of 1,01,190 patients got admitted to different hospitals across the country since January this year. Of them, 1,00,762 patients have returned home after recovery, Directorate General of Health Services said...
 
Official death toll from dengue reaches 148

The Directorate General of Health Services, analysing the list of probable dengue deaths, confirmed seven more deaths caused by dengue fever, bringing the total number of fatalities to 148 so far this year.

According to the report of the Directorate General of Health Services received Thursday, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research received reports of 266 suspected dengue deaths this year, and the 148 of them were confirmed analysing 234 of the reports.

The 148 deaths included two in April, six in June, 35 in July, 83 in August, 17 in September, four in October and one in November.

Dengue fever claims 164 lives in Bangladesh in 2019

DHAKA, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- At least 164 people died of Dengue fever across Bangladesh last year, health department figures showed Thursday.

According to the latest figure reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) under the Ministry of Health, the deaths included two in April, six in June, 35 in July, 83 in August, 25 in September, 11 in October and two in November.

DGHS: No dengue patients in last 24hrs

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has said that no new dengue case has been reported in the last 24 hours.

In its regular update on Thursday, the DGHS noted that currently 29 patients are being treated for dengue -- 26 of them are in Dhaka, reports UNB...

..An excessive number of patients put a severe strain on the country's healthcare system. Most of the cases were reported from the overcrowded capital city of Dhaka.

Earlier this month, the government confirmed that dengue had claimed the lives of 164 people last year.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed the number after reviewing 263 out of 266 reports of dengue-related deaths.

In 2019, 101,354 people were hospitalized with dengue in the country. Of them, 101,037 made full recovery.

Since the beginning of this year, 152 dengue cases have been reported while 123 patients have been discharged from hospitals...

Official dengue death toll makes record
179 deaths in 2019 confirmed

The official death toll from the last year’s dengue outbreak hit a new height as the government on Thursday revealed that 179 people died of the mosquito-borne viral fever in 2019.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research has at last finished reviewing all of 276 dengue death reports prepared by registered doctors and confirmed that dengue took 179 lives.

On Thursday, the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room said the institute, however, had not explained how the rest, 97 people, died.

‘We can only tell that 179 people died of dengue,’ the health emergency control room in-charge Ayesha Akther told New Age...
