Babies Given Second Dose Against Influenza A H1N1
Friday June 25, 2010 |
National vaccination campaign against influenza A H1N1 virus continues successfully in the province. "Initially we vaccinate only people that make the risk group, but as we have a large number of doses, we immunize the entire population," said Ana Irustia, medical CAPS inside.
While the vaccine is to prevent influenza specifically, the campaign decreased respiratory diseases in general, as said Irma Diaz, medical director of the operating area east of SIPROSA. "After the mass vaccination we found a reduction of cases of bronchiolitis, influenza-like illness and respiratory illness in general," said the professional, but warned, however, beware.
The vaccine is placed free in hospitals and primary care and is aimed at the entire population from six months old. In children up to three years, the second dose is repeated after 30 days of placing the first.
