Officials at Royal Inland Hospital are reporting that no new patients have displayed symptoms of Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) infection since yesterday. Due to an outbreak of C. difficile in 10 confirmed patients, Royal Inland Hospital remains vigilant to reduce the risk of spreading this gastro intestinal infection...

Kamloops hospital patient with C. difficile dies amid outbreak

One of the 10 patients who contracted C. difficile at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops has died, the Interior Health Authority has confirmed.

Spokesperson Darshan Lindsay said although the patient did have C. difficile, the death is believed to be related to other health issues...

Royal Inland Hospital was more than 24 hours without a new case of clostridium difficile Friday afternoon, giving hope to administrator Marg Brown that the contagious ailment was contained.

The bacteria was confirmed in 10 of 14 patients who showed symptoms that included diarrhea and other gastro-intestinal problems...
