C. difficile hits local hospital

An outbreak of the C. difficile bacteria has sickened four patients at Langley Memorial Hospital and has caused a partial quarantine in one wing.

The outbreak was declared on June 8 in the Two-South unit, where all the patients were receiving treatment. Two-South is a general medical ward.

To ensure that the infection doesn't spread any further, the four patients have been put into a "mini-ward" of their own, said Roy Thorpe-Dorward, a spokesperson for Fraser Health...
