This document gives general preventative guidance on biosecurity measures that should be taken in relation to reducing the introduction and spread of avian influenza, to prevent wild birds, animals, poultry and people from becoming sick.
All actions are highly recommended even when there are no suspected or confirmed cases of avian influenza. However, when there are suspected or confirmed cases of avian influenza all the actions become mandatory and must be complied with.
This document represents biosecurity guidance that is published in accordance with section 6A of the Animal Health Act 1981 (the Act). Where applicable, this document should be read together with any relevant specific declarations,
Notices, Orders and legal measures in force at the time, and detailed on falklands.gov.fk/agriculture/avian-influenza.
Measures may include declaring Suspect Places, Temporary Control Zones, Infected Places, Protection Zones and Surveillance Zones.
