An outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was eradicated in a broiler farm in Pianfei, in the province of Cuneo, where a drastic increase in the mortality of fattening animals had been reported in the previous days.

'After the immediate confrontation with the Ministry of Health and the Reference Center for Avian Influenza at the Zooprophylactic Institute of the Venezie - communicates the Regional Health Councilor of Piedmont, Luigi Genesio Icardi -, we have convened the Unit of Regional crisis and defined, in concert with the ASL Cn1 and the Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d'Aosta, all the measures required by current legislation to contain the spread of the virus, including the limitation of movements and clinical monitoring in poultry farms falling within the restricted zones set up around the outbreak '.
