A Townsville resident has been diagnosed with dengue and is being tested for Zika virus.
A DENGUE warning has been issued after the first Townsville outbreak this wet season.

Townsville Public Health Unit today confirmed the first case of locally acquired dengue in a Pallarenda resident.

Torres Strait dengue outbreak sparks five confirmed cases, seven suspected ones

Up to 10 extra public health officers will this week head to the Torres Strait, off far north Queensland, to tackle the region's worst dengue fever outbreak in more than a decade.

There are now five confirmed cases and seven suspected ones on Badu, Darnley and Thursday Islands.

Dr Richard Gair from Tropical Public Health Services said they were believed to be linked to a large outbreak in Papua New Guinea...
