Queensland Health says unique conditions are frustrating efforts to treat legionella bacteria outbreaks at two facilities in the state's south-west.

Traces of the potentially deadly bacteria were found in the operating theatre of Charleville Hospital and the nearby Waroona Nursing Home last month, and efforts to flush it out have proved unsuccessful.
