Picnic spot closed after bird deaths
Correspondent
KOHORA, Jan 23 ? In view of recovery of about 10 to 12 carcasses of halika birds at Hatipathar picnic spot under Karbi Anglong at Kohora two days back, the authorities have closed the picnic spot till January 26 citing special measures for cleaning up the garbage left by picnic revellers to ensure that not a single bird dies by consuming the garbage.
It is worth mentioning that the post mortem report suggested that the birds died due to consumption of fermented food items mixed with plastic, which led to formation of gastroenteritis and infected the digestive system of the birds that ultimately proved fatal.

...

Veterinary doctors of Wildlife Rescue Centre of Kaziranga under Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), have categorically said that there is no sign and symptoms of bird flu as suspected by some quarters
