15 Flu Deaths Reported in Arkansas

UPDATE, 3:50PM 01-12-15 -- On Monday, the Arkansas Department of Health reported another flu related death, bringing the total to 15 around the state.

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The number of flu deaths in Arkansas continues to rise.

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) Thursday, reported that 14 people since September 2014. That number has continued to rise each day this week, up from 12 on Wednesday. The ADH says none of the victims have been children. Of those who have died, eight were ages 65+, five were 45-64 years old and one was 25-44.

Flu death count rises to 18

Eighteen Arkansans have died of the flu, the Arkansas Department of Health announced Thursday.

?As of today, most of the deaths have been in people over the age of 65, which is not unexpected for this type of flu,? Arkansas Department of Health spokesman Kerry Krell said.

There have been 12 deaths in people over 65 years old, four in people 45 to 64 and two in people 25 to 44 so far this season.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) ? As of Thursday, 37 flu deaths have been reported in the state of Arkansas.

According to Cathy Flanagin with the Health Department, 29 of the deaths were people over the age of 65, six were between 45 and 64, and the others were between 25 and 44. Flanagin said this year's strain is affecting children and older people more.

Forty Arkansans have now died of the flu, the Arkansas Department of Health announced Tuesday.

The most deaths have been in people over 65 years old, Arkansas Department of Health spokesman Kerry Krell said.

There have been 31 deaths in people over 65 years old, seven in people 45 to 64 and two in people 25 to 44 so far this season, Krell said.
