A 32-year-old Ahwatukee man who had recently returned from Sierra Leone was hospitalized early Friday with flu-like symptoms, triggering a protocol used to treat patients who might be infected with Ebola, authorities said.
The man was taken to Maricopa Medical Center in central Phoenix. A hospital spokeswoman said the man underwent a test for the Ebola virus, but that it'll take hours before results would be available.
Hospital and Arizona public-health officials said, however, the man is at "a very low risk" for Ebola and that the "evidence is strongly suggestive" that he has not been infected.
