Another Student Diagnosed With MRSA

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. -- A Montgomery County elementary school student has been diagnosed with the drug resistant staph infection known as MRSA.
The latest case was reported at Stedwick Elementary School in Montgomery Village on Tuesday.
Parents received a letter notifying them of the case, along with information on MRSA symptoms.
School officials say precautions are being taken to prevent the spread of the disease, and all bathrooms are equipped with soap.
Recently, a Hoover Middle School teacher in Rockville died from MRSA.
Officials say 44 cases of MRSA have been reported in Montgomery County schools, but all of the students who contracted the infection have recovered.
Health officials have repeatedly said the best way to prevent the disease is with simple hand washing.

I'm almost amused at the amount of sensational reporting that has recently accompanied this topic. I guess I never realized how little the public knows about the infectious organisms that surround them, or that community-acquired MRSA has been around for some time now.
