A confirmed case of measles in the Edmonton area has prompted a public-health alert.
Albeta Health Services, the provincial health-care authority, wants to follow up with anyone who may have been in close contact with the ill person, who recently travelled outside Canada.
Passengers on Air Canada Flight 244 on Aug. 15 between Vancouver and Edmonton are asked to call Health Link Alberta as soon as possible.
The request extends to anyone who was in the baggage claim area at Edmonton International Airport between 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. local time that day...

EDMONTON ? Hundreds people may have been exposed to measles in downtown Edmonton and at University Hospital, Alberta Health Services said Tuesday.

?We are asking all potentially exposed individuals to monitor their health for symptoms of measles disease. If symptoms develop, these individuals are asked to call Health Link Alberta immediately and to avoid all contact with others,? says Dr. Marcia Johnson, medical officer of health, Edmonton zone. ?These individuals must continue to watch for symptoms of measles through November 29, 2011.?
People who were at the following locations and times may have been exposed:
? Manulife Place (office tower only), 10180 101st St., Nov. 1, 2, 3 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon ? Synergy Fall Social Event, main ballroom, Sutton Place Hotel, Nov. 3 from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. ? University of Alberta Hospital, Emergency Department, Nov. 8 from 7:30 p.m. to midnight, and Nov. 9 from midnight to 4:30 a.m.
