3 more deaths - 2 in Tenn. Valley - linked to H1N1

MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) - The Alabama Department of Public Health announced Thursday afternoon they had been notified in the past week about the deaths of three people in Alabama related to the H1N1 virus, with two of them from the Tennessee Valley.
The ADPH said that a man in his 60's from Talladega County, a woman in her 50's from Madison County, and a female in her 70's from Jackson County have recently died. Specimens later showed they tested positive for 2009 H1N1 influenza.
Previous deaths of persons positive for H1N1 influenza have occurred this year in Bullock, Dale, Houston, Jackson, Jefferson, Macon, Montgomery and Russell counties.
The three added confirmed deaths brings the total to 11 in the state of Alabama. Inoculations against the virus commonly called swine flu are due to begin in the state next week.
The continued widespread incidence of 2009 H1N1 influenza in Alabama and the 11 known deaths in the state serve as reminder of the need for everyone to take steps to prevent transmission of disease and to be immunized for both seasonal and H1N1 influenza when vaccine becomes available.
