Alabama - Jefferson county hospitals (Birmingham) at top of surge capacity - January 10, 2018

The hospitals are so full that county officials are looking for hospital capacity in other parts of the state. The population of the metropolitan Birmingham area is about 1 million.

I do not have a link. This was told to me by someone related to the county public health system.
