...The Alabama Department of Public Health and Mobile County Health Department are watching for additional cases, according to a press release. There is a vaccine for monkeypox, but it is not yet recommended for people with no known exposure to the virus in Alabama...

Alabama officials announce state’s second monkeypox case in Jefferson County

Alabama health officials announced a second confirmed monkeypox case in Jefferson County Friday afternoon, just hours after reporting the state’s first case earlier the same day.

The state now joins almost four dozen others where monkeypox cases have been reported in a widening outbreak that has spread around the globe. Nearly 1,500 cases have been detected in the United States, with the largest number occurring in New York..

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Two additional cases of monkeypox have been identified in Alabama, per the ADPH. That number has risen from the two cases officials discovered on Friday.

The Alabama Department of Public Health did not give details on the location of the cases...
