Mexico City .- Despite the bitter cold that was felt during this winter season, in Mexico there has been an increase in respiratory diseases, which only had an increase of 30 percent, a normal figure for the time.

The Secretary of Health of the capital, Francisco Osuna, said the flu has behaved "foreseeable" and that over 90 percent of the cases have been caused by the seasonal virus and less than ten percent are A- H1N1.

In an interview, noted that these figures show that vaccination was effective, as they have implemented more than 700 000 doses in Mexico City and still no vaccine available in hospitals, health centers and subway stations.

Said there are children under six, pregnant women and adults over 60 who should receive the vaccination and will be in late January at the conclusion of vaccination against influenza.

Given the low temperatures, officials urged people to extreme measures to avoid sudden changes in temperature and dress warmly, especially in the mornings and evenings which is when most feel the cold.

For people who are sick, you should not self-medicate, avoid taking antibiotics and see a doctor to be treated.
