AH1N1 In Costa Rica Now Attacking Indigenous And Children
The ministerio de Salud (Health ministry) is concerned of a possible outbreak of the AH1N1 flu virus among indigenous communities, a group that was not affected by the first wave of the killer flu last year.
The ministra de Salud, Mar?a Luisa ?vila, explains that four children are currently in the Hospital Nacional de Ni?os (Children's Hospital) in San Jos?, one in serious condition.
?vila said the worrisome is that this group was not affected in the past.
The growth in cases are in Oreamuno de Cartago, Pavas and Los Chiles.
The ministra added that they are looking into why the AH1N1 is now attacking the indigenous and children, something that it did not do before.
