This week there are 800 new cases of flu per 100,000 population count, almost two times more than is necessary to speak of a flu epidemic.

In the Netherlands there is a flu epidemic

Watch the video: The Public Health Service offers one last chance to get a flu shot

This shows a measurement of degrotegriepmeting.nl that since 2003 the number of flu cases are kept, the Algemeen Dagblad. 15,000 volunteers to do the measurement with you. "We see a huge spike," says Carl Head Scissors degrotegriepmeting. He expects even more this week GPs will encounter people with flu, because people over the Christmas holiday is also faster to the physician. The peak is quite normal for the winter.

Re: After huge surge, flu cases going down in the Netherlands

how many people are vaccinated in the Netherlands ?

Of 16 million inhabitants 5 million people were invited this season for a vaccination (seasonal flu, incl. the new H1N1): 60+ and other riskgroups.

I don't know a percentage of how many showed up to get their jab. Less than last year is what I heard, some 60%.

Last year more were invited, childeren were included (age between 6 months and 5 years) and pregnants.

Last year it was 76% of the riskgroups incl. children and pregnants who were vaccinated for the new H1N1.
70% showed up for the 2nd vaccination.

I guess this double vaccination still could offer some protection?
