San Salvador, 17 Jul (Notimex) .- The Salvadoran capital may suspend the religious festival of the Divine Savior of the world, the most important country for the spread of influenza, which took five evil lives and hundreds of recorded infections.
Everything indicates that the health authorities declared red alert on Tuesday and would entail the restriction of many activities that involve large numbers of people.
The religious festival is scheduled from August 1-6 next, for which 1.5 million people in this city will enjoy a vacation, which means you should stay home on the advice of health authorities.
The Mayor declared the capital last Thursday red alert due to the increased incidence of influenza was recorded in the greater metropolitan area.
To date, El Salvador recorded, in addition to the five deaths, 453 confirmed infections HINI09 the virus that causes influenza, and 56 people on suspicion of being under surveillance infected.
The mayor of San Salvador, Norman Quijano, said he is willing to suspend traditional celebrations in the event that the Ministry of Health issued a red alert.
"If the Ministry gives me that we must suspend the party, suspend, if not it gives me, the responsibility will fall on them (if there are more new infections) because I'm going to celebrate the festival, the mayor said, after criticizing the authorities for the delay in implementing the measure.
The minister, Maria Isabel Rodriguez, asked the mayor not to alarm the public and asked cautiously, because "we are acting elements and data (that) he did not have them."
The opposition Alianza Republicana Nacionalista (Arena) party Quijano, wants to hold the new government with less than two months of managing the health situation.
The former mayor of San Salvador and the current deputy minister of Health, Violeta Menjivar, confirmed Friday that all conditions are to issue a red alert and only need to be met to activate the third week so far.
H1N109 The virus is not the only obstacle to the most important religious celebration in the capital, but also the economic crisis affecting the majority of the population.
Authorities of the Ministry of Tourism has provided a smaller number of people traveling to other countries like Guatemala and Honduras vacacionar where traditionally come Salvadorians in those days of rest.
