PANDEMIC PREPAREDNESS - A dramatised documentary of a pandemic exercise scenario prepared in the Netherlands

In 2007, the Meander Medical Centre of Amersfoort and the Safety Region of Utrecht (Netherlands) performed an exercise on Hospital preparedness and response related to a flu pandemic scenario.

The exercise was based on the scenario starting with of an outbreak of avian influenza in France, and developing into a new human strain of influenza infecting people throughout Europe.

A dramatized documentary of this exercise, "the Paris flu" has been produced and made available by the RIVM (The Netherlands? National Institute for Public Health and the Environment).

The documentary is available for educational use only on a region free DVD in Dutch and English Language version (English subtitles).

ECDC comment (15/05/08):
This is a useful addition to an increasing number of educational films to educate both policy makers and the general public about pandemic influenza.

Many of the films that have been developed in the EU were showcased in a specific session of the 4th pandemic preparedness workshop in Luxembourg in September 2007.

ECDC has produced a summary report highlighting some of these films, and associated posters of good practice in pandemic preparedness presented by Member States at the workshop (1).

Other people and countries with films or educational material are encouraged to send details to ECDC.

Any chances to got this DVD wider distributed (as awareness) to the masses as the numerous present games, films, etc., on the market?

What I get from the website of RIVM, Netherlands is: the DVD is for health institutions, to help to organize pandemic exercises.

Not for the general public, you need other DVD's for that.
There are a lot of DVD's on bird flu you can buy, You-Tube, books, etc, not familiar with them.

Than, the majority of the masses will be (to be) awared (because only a very small portion are interested in pandemics DVD/...) how to exercise and organize themselves, by a TV, probably only when it begins.
