Unknown disease afflicting 50 in western Nepal

KATHMANDU, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) --

At least 50 people in the Basudevpur Village Development Committee of Banke district in mid-western Nepal have been suffering from an unknown disease, The Himalayan Times reported on Sunday.

According to the daily, headache, dizziness, fever, cough and diarrhea are symptoms of this disease, Mansoor Khan, a local, said, adding that the disease has been afflicting senior citizens and children the most.

"Though we have informed the sub-health post based in the village about the disease, it has not sent health workers to diagnose the ailment and treat the patients," another local Raju Sunar said.

Meanwhile, officer of the District Public Health Office, Om Upadhyaya, pledged to send a team of health workers to the village, some 260 km west of Kathmandu.
