A Rajasthan-based livestock owner has sought compensation from a Vapi-based animal shelter for the death of 630 sheep and goats confiscated during transit to Mumbai.



Members of the Vapi Hinsa Nivaran Sangh (VHNS) had stopped six trucks with around 1,300 sheep and goats, before Eid ul Zuha, on November 14 and 15, alleging animal cruelty. They had allegedly informed the police of the confiscation after they had seized the trucks. The animals were later sent to Ratan Panrapol (a cattle shed) where 630 died of viral fever.
