The Prosecutor General's Office opened an investigation to determine the cause of the poisoning of a total of 408 employees of the company South Valley, located in the municipality of Tekax.

On Friday afternoon, it was reported that about 300 people were poisoned by eating decaying food, however, the prosecution made relevant research to know whether it was the food, water or fertilizer which caused massive cases of gastroenteritis.

As reported by El Universal, the victims are employees of the packing of vegetables South Valley, which is dedicated to growing squash and other vegetables for export.

For his part, Governor Rolando Zapata Bello said that virtually all company employees were discharged and are out of danger thanks to the proper care they received, but said it continues to slope by all public health institutions.

Although it has been confirmed that the cause of mass poisoning was by eating spoiled food, health authorities are awaiting the results of tests performed in the laboratory of the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health .

Furthermore, the Attorney General of the State initiated an investigation into the mass poisoning to determine the cause of the disease suffered by the laborers of the baler.
