SWABI: Four more cases of the swine flu have been confirmed by National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad, said insiders here on Sunday. The sources said that it has made clear that during that last 21-day the swine flu increased and the number of confirmed cases had reached to 17. The sources said that in the new confirmed positive patients of the swine flu; two belong to Kala and one each one to proper Chota Lahor and Kadi. The latter is the new locality but it located adjacent to the Panjpir village from where some positive cases of NIHI virus had already been confirmed, said the sources. In addition, advisor to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Mukhtiar Khan became the first politician from the province and district Swabi to visit the hospital and met with the doctors, wanted to know about the spreading of the swine flu in the different regions of the district. Earlier none of the other politicians or leaders of the political parties visited the hospital to express sympathies with the relatives of the patients or called for boosting the health facilities. The district health officer, Dr Gul Muhammad gave a detailed briefing to the advisor and he was told about the precautionary measures adopted by the health department after the first two positive cases were confirmed on Dec 27. Dr Gul also unveiled the areas from where the NIHI virus was reported. He was also apprised the advisor about the establishment of the isolation ward and continued treatment of the patients there. The heath officer said that Mr Mukhtiar expressed satisfaction over the continued treatment and said that all possible facilities should be given to all the patients who are under treatment in the isolation ward at SHC.
