SOUTH BEND ? A 23-year-old pregnant woman died Sunday after officials say she was admitted to a local medical center complaining of flu-like symptoms.

The woman was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center at about 8 a.m. Saturday, according to St. Joseph County deputy coroner Chuck Hurley. She died about midnight Sunday, he said.

The woman?s name is not being released pending notification of family members.

The baby was delivered via Cesarean section and survived, Hurley said.

He said an autopsy is currently under way to determine more about the woman?s death. Possible H1N1-related complications are being investigated. He added that the woman also had other chronic medical conditions that may have contributed.

If this conclusion is based on rapid tests, it may be wrong.

Our local tv station has been running this story. The station tried to contact the state health department; but it was closed today since this is a holiday.

They also annouced that a couple of the large supermarkets are totally out of hand sanitizer.

Yes, apparently people in the US are using it faster than it can be produced. :)

Walgreen's Drug Store had a display of sanitizers and masks. That's the first time I've seen masks displayed; I didn't look to see if they were N95's but they weren't surgicals.

Flu shots are being offered at different locations (supermarkets, drug stores) here and I went last Wed. for my pneumonia shot. Surprisingly, they were completely out.. they didn't even have any to bring with them that morning. She said they were expecting a shipment in and should have them this Wed.
