Alarm bells at WHO over chikungunya case in New Caledonia

Health authorities are worried that an outbreak of chikungunya in the region could escalate into a full blown epidemic.

The alarm has been raised at the World Health Organisation, after the first case of the insect borne virus to be detected in the Pacific was confirmed in New Caledonia...

New Caledonia fights chikungunya outbreak

Health authorities in New Caledonia have called for tougher measures to try to contain the spread of the mosquito-borne disease, chikungunya.

A first case was detected nearly a month ago in a person arriving from Indonesia but now five more people have been diagnosed in a Noumea neighbourhood...
