2 new H1N1 cases in Denmark


June 9, 2009: 1 infected abroad (no further information)

June 11, 2009: Young child infected in US, got sick a few days after he/she came back to Denmark (Vejle). Attened kindergarden a cupple of days in the days before he got sick, no other children in the kindergarden annonced sick so far.

Thursday, 11 June 2009 11:06 KR News .A young boy is receiving hospital treatment after being confirmed as the latest H1N1 carrier in Denmark

A six-year-old boy from Vejle in East Jutland has been admitted to hospital with the Influenza A (H1N1) virus. The National Board of Health could not confirm if this is the first Danish child infected with the virus, as the identities of the other eight Danes with H1N1 have not been released.

A spokeswoman for the health board said today that the identifying information about this patient had been released as the child had attended kindergarten after being infected and it was necessary to inform the families of his classmates and offer preventative treatment.

Arne Sigtenbjerggard, head of Vejle council?s Children and Family Committee, said that the child had been on holiday to the US and was confirmed as having the virus after returning home.

The Vejle boy has been admitted to Odense University Hospital where he is in isolation and receiving treatment.
