2 school age children ( from the same family) returning to Finland from the US have been confirmed to have H1N1.

Kahdella samaan perheeseen kuuluvalla kouluik?isell? suomalaislapsella on todettu sikainfluenssa. Sairastuneet lapset ovat saaneet l??kityksen ja heid?n perheenj?senens? suojal??kityksen.

Helsingin ja Uudenmaan sairaanhoitopiirin (Hus) mukaan lapset ovat kotihoidossa ja heid?n vointinsa on hyv?.


Perhe palasi Yhdysvalloista perjantaiaamuna Finnairin reittilennolla AY 006 kello 8.50. Samalla lennolla olleita pyydet??n tarkkailemaan terveytt??n noin viikon ajan matkan j?lkeen ja ottamaan tarvittaessa yhteytt? terveyskeskukseen.

Lapset tuotiin Espoon Jorvin sairaalan p?ivystykseen influenssaoireiden takia perjantaina.

Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitoksen (THL) mukaan Meksikosta, Yhdysvalloista, Kanadasta, Australiasta ja Chilest? palaavien matkustajien on hyv? tarkkailla terveytt??n matkan j?lkeen noin viikon verran.


Suomessa on aiemmin varmistettu viisi sikainfluenssatapausta. Viranomaiset odottavat, ett? sikainfluenssana tunnettu H1N1-viruksen aiheuttama tauti iskee Suomeen laajasti vasta syksyll?.

Maailman terveysj?rjest? WHO julisti perjantaina sikainfluenssan maailmanlaajuiseksi pandemiaksi. WHO:n mukaan julistus perustuu enemm?n taudin levi?misen laajuuteen kuin sen vaarallisuuteen.

Julistuksella ei ole t?ss? vaiheessa juurikaan ole vaikutuksia Suomen viranomaisten toimintaan. Sosiaali- ja terveysministeri?n mukaan Suomessa jatketaan toimia, joilla epidemian levi?minen pyrit??n rajaamaan.

H1N1-virukseen sairastuneiden hoitoon on Suomessa varauduttu ja tilannetta seurataan tehostetusti.

New H1N1 Cases Confirmed in Finland

Two Finnish schoolchildren have contracted swine fever. Riitta Lehtonen, Communications Chief of the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusima confirmed the new cases of the H1N1 virus on Sunday.

The patients are children with mild symptoms. They have now left hospital. The family returned home from the United States on Saturday.

Seven cases of the virus have now been confirmed in Finland

Two schoolchildren contract swine flu from trip to USA

Two school-age children in Finland have been confirmed as suffering from swine flu. The children have been put on medical treatment. Their family members, in turn, have been given preventive medication.
Previously five cases of the H1N1 virus infection have been confirmed in Finland.
According to the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa, the two children who contracted the virus are from the same family. The children, who are both in good condition, are being treated at home.

The family returned from the United States on the Finnair scheduled flight AY 006 at 8:50 on Friday morning.
Persons who shared this flight are asked to monitor their health for about a week from the journey and contact their local health centre if needed.
According to the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), travellers returning from Mexico, USA, Canada, Australia, and Chile would do well to observe their health for around seven days after the trip.
