This was aired by Anton Parusov, acting director of a sanitary-epidemiological supervision department of the Ministry of Health. In Rivne and Sumy regions the epidemiological threshold is exceeded already by half.

In Kyiv, according to Parusov, the threshold has been almost hit. For December 21 two fatal cases of influenza are recorded. In general, according to the Ministry of Health, there are 54,407 children with influenza and acute respiratory reported, representing 63.14% of all patients. However Parusov noted that due to the winter vacation, the morbidity among children is expected to decrease starting next week.

At 50 weeks, 2010 in five target cities morbidity of influenza and SARS are above the epidemic threshold:

Vinnitsa - by 21,3%

Dnipropetrovsk - by 5,7%

Lions - by 7,9%

Simferopol - 1,2%

Chernigov - by 20,5%

Almost reached the epidemic threshold parameter in Kiev (118.48 cases per 10 thousand population against epidporohu 118.96).

For the past week in 10 target cities Influenza Centre registered 86 172 patients with acute respiratory infections, hospitalized 974 people (1,13% of patients), 75.3% among hospitalized are children younger than 17 years. Incidence rate of influenza and SARS is 88.48 cases per 10 thousand population of cases against 77.95 last week.

The growth rate of weekly incidence rates decreased slightly and amounted to 13,7% (the previous two weeks growth amounted to 17,3%).

Among the child population registered 54 407 cases of influenza and SARS (63.14% among all patients), growth of 7,1% (at 49 weeks - 14.8%). As for 49 weeks, often sick children 1 4rr. - 29.98% and 5 9rr. (28,1%).

At 50 weeks in 10 target cities have not registered any deaths among the patients.

According to the weekly e-newsletter WHO (EuroFlu, 49 weeks), influenza activity in the European region continues to be low, but has been gradually increasing activity of the epidemic process.

According to various countries in the European region, within 49 weeks of 2010., The proportion of influenza positive samples increased to 20% against 10% the previous week. Are revealed influenza virus A (H1N1), B and A (H3), prolonged circulation of PC viruses, characteristics which coincide with those for the period 2009/2010rr season.
