HANOVER, N.H. --
Dartmouth College has received its first shipment of H1N1 nasal spray vaccines, which are being issued to students and faculty in health care.

Since the beginning of the year, about 240 Dartmouth students reported fevers and showed flu-like symptoms. So far, only the live mist has been available, which isn't recommended for people ages 50 and over, or for pregnant women. The college ordered 400 doses of the injectable, killed version of the vaccine, which they think will go fast.

"If you look at the populations in general, there are more people who are waiting for the killed than there are waiting for the live attenuated," said Dartmouth physician Dr. Jack Turco.

The college received word that the injectable version of the vaccine has been shipped, and it should be available to priority groups shortly.
