Gulf of Mexico Hurricane Drought Could Soon Become Longest in 130 Years

The Gulf of Mexico has not had a single hurricane enter or develop in its waters since September 2013.
If this streak continues for eight more days, it'll be the longest drought on record, dating back to 1886.

Reliable weather models do not have any tropical systems in the Atlantic Basin through at least July 28, so it's very likely that this long-standing record will fall seven days from now.
