I'm helping Shiloh compile a tally for Argentina. I made it through all the posts related to the Buenos Aires Province, including the Federal Capital. I have a preliminary count of 99 deaths and possibly 10 percent are duplicates or should stay only on a suspected deaths list. I still need to cross check with other sources before it gets posted, but my guess is similar to your estimate. I think the actual deaths could be well over 200 and the number of deaths in the other provinces is growing fast.

WHO always trails by quite a bit. The official number of confirmed deaths in Argentina as of Saturday (which also trails local reports), now has the deaths up to 94 (they have begun to acknowledge the large number of deaths in adjacent Santa Fe province, which is now at 26 - it was at 2 a few days ago).

Re: Argentina: 100 fatalities so far

The 159 is a bit lagging becasue the numbers used for Buenos Aires is the numbers put out by the province, which lists them by location. The current number of Buenos Aires is 64 in the lagging national numbers, and 48 are reported by Buenos Aires province (the 48 are mapped out in the Metro area).

Then what would you say the "real" number is for the country?

Influenza A: 130 dead, Argentina beat Mexico (although the government denies it)

The amount of first infected and then killed by influenza A, continues to generate discord between the national government, and provincial health experts and nongovernmental organizations. As Minister Manzur mention the 94 dead, reported more than 130 provinces, which already exceeded to Mexico ... And, according to specialists, even the peak of influenza A does not happen.

| 13/07/2009 | 08:31

CIUDAD DE BUENOS AIRES (Urgente24) .- This morning the Minister of Health of the province of Buenos Aires, Claudio Zin, again repeating the official discourse in the media. Speaking to 'Radio 10', said to be experiencing a "temporary relief" of the epidemic of influenza A in the Province.

The official confirmed the decrease in hospitalizations and care of patients to watch, but said that this is because the disease began to withdraw.

"Clearly, decreasing the number of cases and international consultations. (But) That does not mean it has passed the 'peak' of the pandemic. It may be that there is a slight increase next week," he said.

He said this lack of specifics is because "the virus has no history of movement in the world." "We are in a situation sort of temporary relief," he added.

The growth of the controversy and different views among colleagues was that, according to the minister, reached contradictory information society and to grow panic. "So I'm half crazy, reading things that have nothing to do with reality," he said.

The problem is to know who issued the "conflicting information". Well, the numbers are more specialist, and even the provincial peers who speak for example, a greater number of deaths from influenza.

In recent days, the NGO M?decins du Monde has warned that "Argentina would be tripling the cases provided by the Ministry of Health." Yesterday, the chief of staff, An?bal Fern?ndez, said that "there has been no information has been hidden at any time" for the epidemic of influenza A. It also came to the crossing of NGOs, stating that it is "a group chant, doctors concluded that there are more dead" than appropriated by the Government.

Emilio Santabaya, former director of Malbr?n, said in statements to 'Cadena3', "the WHO said the disease would peak in week 29, just when our authorities arranged for the resumption of classes." The specialist also recalled that "in 2004, WHO sent a warning to Argentina about a possible flu epidemic that could be 900 times greater than the value of normal. Epidemics are measured with statistics. When excess limits certain cases, you can warn of an epidemic. He spent five years and Argentina, I knew then that an epidemic was coming, did nothing. "

Finally, Santabaya out that the epidemic may continue during summer: "It is not very likely. Next year we must take special care because, if the flu mutates, we are in trouble. We depend on the vaccine that could make the countries of the First world. muta If the great pandemic is yet to come. "

But while the national health ministry on Saturday acknowledged 94 deaths as a result of this epidemic, the provincial Ministries of Health and porte?a confirmed also on a formal, more deaths.

Indeed, in the provinces reported over 130 deaths by influenza A, which figure to be exceeded in a number of Mexico died from the pandemic.

The province of Buenos Aires is that tops the list of fatalities with 50, followed by Santa Fe 26, Capital Federal with 10, three missions, and Black River, San Juan, Entre Rios, Neuquen and the metropolitan area with a cases by location.

Meanwhile, according to the parts of the provincial ministries of Health and the City, there is a difference of at least 39 cases that were not reported by the national portfolio, by Juan Luis Manzur.

While the government of Buenos Aires on Friday confirmed 75 fatalities from the disease, only 50 to Nation.
