Dane resistant to Tamiflu

29. June 2009

The first case in the world of resistance to influenza drug Tamiflu in people with influenza H1N1 has been found in Denmark.

The person is now healthy, and there is no further evidence of infection with resistant virus, according to Statens Serum Institut.

Re: Dane with novel H1N1 resistant to Tamiflu

The person in question was originaly in "close contact" with a person infected
with H1N1 abroad, and was was given tamiflu preemptive. In spite of the Tamiflu treatment the person developed flu synptoms. The person has now recovered.

What I was thinking was; Is it possible that the person was already infected ca 48 houres earlier with H1N1, BEFORE getting Tamiflu, a H1N1 infection, at the time, with estreamly mild symptoms and therfore got Tamiflu too late and that the infection then developed into a full H1N1 illness?

If this is possible, then it?s possible that the virus in question was not resistent.

Somone with knowhow please let me know.

29. juni 2009 - Resistens hos pandemisk influenza A H1N1v p?vist i Danmark

Alligevel fik vedkommende influenzasymptomer. En pr?ve viste, at personen var inficeret med influenzavirus A H1N1v. Yderligere unders?gelser p?

They need to publish this sequence!

I guess you or som of the cheifs of this forum, could try to email K?re M?lbak (H1N1, medical specialist in charge) Statens Serum Institut, Copenhagen, Denmark, and ask him to please publish/share the sequense.

This is the email to Statens Serum Institut, Copenhagen, Denmark, so just add Att/ K?re M?lbak

Here is a direct email adress to K?re M?lbak (+ info on him), however I?m not sure if it is valid anymore or if it?s an old one:
