Imphal, August 28: As part of the surveillance exercise being carried out within 5 to 10 kms radius after all the domestic fowls and other poultry products have been culled from within 5 kms of the Chingmeirong farm from where outbreak of Bird flu was first reported, Veterinary Department has sent 205 samples collected for further testing to the High Security Animal Disease Laboratory at Bhopal today.

The samples collected by the Department has been taken to the Bhopal laboratory by Dr RK Khogen today even as the post-operation surveillance is currently underway.

On the other hand, Secretary of Veterinary Department KK Chhetry has issued instructions to the SPs of Imphal East and West District for conducting raids along with Veterinary staff in connection with the reports of killing domestic fowls like hens and ducks and selling their meat and feeds within 5 km radius in defiance of the ban.
