Yes! That's correct -- this 10 year old girl is the 25th case in Egypt. There are not 25 current cases at the moment in Egypt. Sorry for the confusion!wdcare said:On the link provided above, this is the article I pulled up. They're speaking of the 25th case, not 25 current cases. (That wasn't clear to me.)

NAMRU-3 is doing a good job of collecting samples and generating sequences, so the genetic picture is coming into focus.Very interesting Dr. Niman. Maybe this more mild form is what is happening in Indonesia. Oh, sorry, I just remembered they are all negative..... Thanks for the commentary.

State news agency MENA quoted a health ministry spokesman as saying the girl, Amira Abdel Latif Nayel, had been admitted to a hospital in Aswan, 450 km south of Cairo, on Tuesday suffering from fever and muscle pains.
He noted that the incidence of human cases of avian influenza had been No. 24 of the child Mohammed Mahmoud Ibrahim Dakahlia governorate, who received hospital treatment Manshiet Bakry has improved his condition and was recovering and is expected to leave tomorrow.
The above comments and translation describe the current status of the 24th and 25th confirmed cases in Egypt. The most recent case is from southern Egypt, and is the first case from the south this season. The 24th case is the third case in a row that has recovered from an H5N1 infection. These three cases (5F, 4F, 4M) were from the Nile Delta and had relatively mild cases. Prior to these three cases, the seven cases from this season were fatal. H5N1 had been isolated from six of the cases, and four had M230I. In contrast, the three recent milder cases did not have M230I.
M230I has been widely detected in poultry in Egypt, although the positives have been in the northern portion of the country. The relationship between the sequences in the north and south will be of interest.
